New Works Wild Stirrings

These large-scale drawings piece together recent experiences at the Loyola Dunes Restoration project along Chicago's lakefront with early memories of cutting fabric shapes for my mother's quilts. Together these experiences hold resonant expressions of creative transformation, the love of colors and textures found in natural forms and materials, and the emotional bonds formed in sensory engagement. Native grasses and prairie plants saturated with ink are printed on multi-color assembled papers and overlaid with layers of color pencil, watercolor, gouache, and gesso.
